Valentine’s Day is Friday and the internet has me inspired. This week, Facebook and Twitter are all abuzz with romance — chocolate, flowers, champagne and .. zombies. Nothing wrong with that. With homemade Valentines and e-cards alike, the horror community appears to be embracing this holiday with its blood and guts. To get in the spirit, I have compiled a quick list with some of those special Valentines. Enjoy!
‘PSYCHO VALENTINE CARDS’
This week, John Squires (AKA Freddy in Space) at FEARnet posted a couple pieces on horror Valentines. The first to catch my eye featured a collection of ‘Psycho Valentine Cards’ by New York artist, Wes Niven. They’re simple, cool and oh-so perfect for your zombie lover. Check out a few of my favorites below. For more about Wes Niven, go here.
THE WALKING DEAD FAN ART
Squires also posted some fan created Walking Dead Valentines. These cards, created by Lee Bretschneider, are fun because they’re a bit cheeky. See below.
OFFICIAL WALKING DEAD VALENTINES
….And AMC had to make it official. Now you can send your own ZOMBIECARD. Choose the card, the text — and add your pics. If you and your hubby are true TWD fans, why not, right?
FROM YOUR CREEPY VALENTINE…
In my light research on the subject, I discovered that last February, Complex did a piece on Creepy Valentines. And it doesn’t disappoint. What makes it creepier? Pretty sure most of these were unintentional. Here’s a peek —
ETSY VALENTINES
And finally, this post would not be complete if I did not search for a few unique Valentine opportunities on Etsy. Search = horror + valentine.
Another Walking Dead one — but to me this one’s pretty perfect.
Don’t know if this one could be true…
Simple and sweet —
Simple, yet elegant —
Who could resist this little guy?
And there you go… Now, snuggle with your darlings and watch My Bloody Valentine. Heck, even the remake is fun.
